Abuse, Assault and Dating
- If a situation makes you feel uncomfortable, act on your instincts. Remember, you have a right to say no and to protect yourself.
- On a date or outing, exercise independence. Bring enough money to pay for your own way and / or a taxi ride home.
- Consuming alcohol will impair your judgment. Stay alert and stay safe.
- If you've been at a party or bar, do not let an impaired person or a stranger drive you home. Being assaulted or getting into an accident is not worth the cost of a taxi ride.
- Use a designated driver, a taxi, or call a friend or family member for a ride, or call a friend or family member for a ride home. Better yet, remain sober and drive yourself home. The life you save may be your own.
- If you are sexually assaulted or physically abused at home, in the workplace or in a social setting, help is available. Report the offence to the police as soon as possible.
