The beginning of the school year is traditionally a time of great stress to the full time residents of Hamilton’s West Mountain. A great number of students are returning to the community or are moving into the neighbourhood for the very first time. Historically, during the first few weeks of school there is a sudden increase in parties, public drunkenness, bar disturbances and vandalism. Past experience has shown that the way police handle these problems during the first few weeks, sets the tone for the entire school year. |
