Yesterday afternoon, Wednesday April 14, while sitting in our back yard enjoying the sun we were surprised to see two mounted officers coming up from the park at the end of our street. When we acknowledged their presence, the two officers turned their mounts towards us and came up to our fence. We began to chat. Then suddenly, there was a whole gaggle of children and adults converging on the lawn to see the horses. The officers invited the children and the adults to pat their mounts and gave a brief history of the horses.
To me this was community PR at its best. After seeing these two officers and their mounts, I can understand how would-be perpetrators might be intimidated by them. Unfortunately, we didn’t get their names or badge numbers but I certainly hope to see them in this area again.
