I would like to take this time to send a huge thank you to the Mounted Unit and Officer Ed Penner and Officer Preston Gabriele. These officers came out to the Memorial Service [and] not only did they pay tribute to the families and residents that have passed on, but also to the residents at the hospice.
One of our residents is nearing the end of life and his wife had stated that her husband had loved horses his whole life and was there any way that they could be brought up to his bedroom window. The officers did this without hesitation. For many minutes they stood by his window paying tribute to this man. His wife told us later how wonderful that this will be one of his last memories. She has also asked for a picture that was taken so she will always remember the moment.
I am so proud to say that the Mounted Unit belongs to Hamilton and we have some very fine officers who take the time to meet the needs of others.
