MPU Effectively Acted as Crowd Control

Marty,

Just a quick note to express my thanks to your unit that assisted with crowd control at the Canadian Country Music Awards night at Copps Coliseum on Monday night Sept 19th 2011.

I conducted the paid duty with three other officers.  One assigned in a cruiser slowed north traffic in curb lane (this allowed limo's and buses to drop off the stars), and the remainder protected the red carper entrance.  Crowds began forming 3 hours before the event began, and got very crowded around the street and red carpet entrance.  The mounted unit effectively acted as crowd control keeping fans off Bay Street and leaving the open street lanes for limos to escape.  In my opinion the three horses that were present acted as a number of officers(6) and an extra two cruisers in a sense.

The added touch of the stetsons worn by the officers were commented on by most Fans and musicians who also wanted photos of our members.  Thanks again.
