Q.  What are your hours of operation?
A.  Victim Services operates 24 hrs. a day, 7 days a week. 3 full time staff work from The Victim Services Branch Office at 155 King William Mon-Fri 8:30am-4:30pm. After office hours the service is maintained by trained volunteers who may be accessed through the Victim Service Tel (905)546-4904.

Q.  When is my Court Date?
A.  Often victims of domestic violence and/or sexual assault confuse our service with the Victim/Witness Program, which is located at John Sopinka Court House, 45 Main St. E. Telephone 905.645.5272.

Q.  How do I become a Victim Services' volunteer?
A.  Contact our officer directly at 546-4904 and one of the staff will explain when the next training session will commence and what the training is all about! All prospective new volunteers have Police and reference checks coupled with a personal interview prior to scheduled training of 40 hrs. conducted in the evenings.

Q.  Where is Victim Services located?
A.  The Victim Services office is located at 155 King William St., Central Police Station, Hamilton 1st floor.

Q.  Who is referred to Victim Services?
A.  80% of the referrals come directly from Police Officers; however, self-referrals, Professional and community referrals are accepted routinely.

Q.  How Can I apply for Criminal Compensation?
A.  The Criminal Inquiries Compensation Board can be reached at their toll free telephone number, 1-800-372-7463 in Toronto, Ontario. The Board will be able to answer any questions victims of crime may have regarding their request for applying for Criminal Injury Compensation.

Q.  What is Victim Services?
A.  Victim Services is a Branch of the Hamilton Police Service. There are three full time staff and 80 trained volunteers who provide voluntary crisis intervention support counseling, emotional and psychological support, information and community referrals if required to all victims of crime and circumstance at the scene of an incident, if safe within Hamilton.
