Unsolved Fail To Remain Fatality - Barton St. at Green Rd.

On Tuesday, March 22nd, 2011 at approximately 8:21 p.m., an elderly couple was out for a walk on the south side of Barton St. in the City of Hamilton.  They approached Green Rd. and had the right of way with the walk signal flashing.  As they started to cross a vehicle traveling southbound on Green Rd. struck the couple knocking them down.

The 69 yr. old woman sustained serious injuries and was taken to hospital.  The 67 yr. old man was killed after being dragged by the suspect vehicle.

The suspect vehicle fled the scene.  An eye witness followed in her vehicle for a short time before eventually losing sight of the suspect vehicle.  The witness was able to obtain a partial plate number and a vehicle description.

Collision Reconstruction Officers investigated the accident.  There was very little evidence at the scene so investigators had to focus on the information form the eye witness.

To this date no suspect(s) have been identified.

It is believed that the $25,000.00 reward for information regarding this unsolved crime that was approved by the Hamilton Police Services Board will lead to the identification of person(s) responsible and a successful conclusion to the investigation.
