Pennies from Heaven at Division Three – September 2006

Eight-year-old Taylor DeCoste of Hamilton is a powerhouse on the fundraising front.  Born with significant bladder and kidney problems, Taylor has had to spend considerable time at McMaster Children’s Hospital.  What his goal was?  Not to forget about his ordeal, but to give back to the hospital that gave so much to him.

With that in mind, Taylor held a garage sale as well as a penny collection with all proceeds to go to the Children's Hospital.

Sgt. Mark Petkoff happened to meet this young man and was so inspired by his ambition; in early September he began a penny drive at Division Three to help Taylor's fundraising efforts.  The generosity 'on the Hill' was evident as $196.00 was collected and for the not-so-math-savvy, that’s an astounding 19,600 pennies.  On October 3rd the pennies were delivered to Taylor's home.
