Division Three B Squad Sergeant recognized for 30 years of Community Service

On Saturday March 29th, 2008 Sgt. George Narozniak of Station 30 B-Squad received the Imperial Order of the Daughters of the Empire Police Public Relations Award in recognition of his consistent philosophy of giving back to the community for over 30 years.

George currently volunteers as follows:

  • Ukrainian Youth Association and has been involved with them for 30 years. He is currently the treasurer and has held the post of Chair and Past Chair.
  • Has been the treasurer of the Hamilton Police in-house charity "Project Concern" for the past three years. The board of Project Concern disseminates officers in-house donations to grass roots needs within the Hamilton community as well as organizing and running hands on events such as, "It's a Kids Christmas at Carmens".
  • Sits on the Board of Directors for the Ukrainian Cultural Center which assists newcomers to assimilate with the Hamilton community. The center not only helps the Ukrainian community but other cultural organizations in the city which do not have facilities of their own. ex. Afro-Caribbean association.
  • Is part of the organizing committee for the Ukrainian National Youth Association Conference which is being held in Hamilton Feb 29- March 2nd 2008.
  • Sits on the advisory committee for the Buduchnist Credit Union.
  • Solicits for Heart and Stroke Foundation.
  • One of the organizer for the last 7 years of the annual Chernobyl walkathon the proceeds of which go towards Hamilton's local homeless.

In the recent past he has volunteered by:

  • Giving talks on various police issues to different organizations ex. Identity Theft, Robberies and Break and Enters.
  • Being the Chair and Past Chair for Camp Weselka a camp for youth.
  • Assisting Hamilton Crime Stoppers at fund-raising events.
  • Sgt. Narozniak continues to support our community and in his current position as treasurer of two busy charitable organizations he spends upward of 20 hours a month volunteering on these alone.
