Hamilton Police Serviceto be the best

Communications Branch

The role of the Communications Branch is to facilitate effective telephone communications between the community and the Hamilton Police Service.  In 2005, the Branch answered over 400,000 telephone calls.  Of those, 161,000 were 9-1-1 calls.

The Branch facilitates effective telephone and radio communications between all members of the Hamilton Police Service and dispatches officers or otherwise disseminates all calls for police service on the basis of priority.

Administration of a ‘False Alarm Program’ is also a key priority with a goal to reduce the increasing number of false alarms impacting police resources.
