Vice and Drugs Branch

The mandate of the Vice and Drugs Branch is to investigate vice and drug crimes in order to enhance and improve the quality of life in our community.

The Branch acts as support for all members of the Hamilton Police Service and outside agencies in any vice or drug investigations. 

The Drug Unit is responsible for investigating and enforcing provision of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act that deal with cultivation and trafficking.

Education on drug abuse issues is an important priority for the Branch and each year, officers provide dozens of presentations to community groups.

The Vice Unit is responsible for the investigation of pornography, prostitution and massage parlours as well as Liquor License Act and gambling offences.  The Unit also works diligently to ensure that the proceeds of such crimes are tracked and seized.  This removes the incentive to commit such crimes in our community.
