Divisional Response Branch

This branch is comprised of: Community Policing Centres, Community Services, Crime Managers, Crime Prevention, School Liaison, Seniors Support and Youth Officers.

 

Community Policing Centres

The Community Policing Centres assist the public with car seat inspections and the fingerprinting of children. We are also a resource for crime prevention, and safety information for a wide variety of topics.  We are a great Volunteer opportunity for anyone 18 years of age and over. Community Service/School Officers

The Community Services/School Officer is responsible for delivering Crime Prevention/Intervention Education to Students from JK-Grade 6 and provides Crime Prevention Education for the Public through Community Events.

Crime Managers

The Crime Manager is the primary liaison between the community and the neighbourhood officers assigned to a beat. Crime Managers responded to community group and city councillor concerns, based upon geographic sectors. The four Crime Managers bring experience from various areas within this Police Service and are responsible for problem solving relating to recurring problems within Division Two.

Crime Prevention 

The Crime Prevention officer provides security and CPTED (Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design) site audits for commercial and residential properties and provides public education on a variety of topics including personal safety, target hardening and robbery prevention.

School Liaison Officers

School Resource Officers are responsible for grades 7 through 12.  They provide a proactive presence in schools.  The officers provide presentations on topics or issues that may put youth at risk including but not limited to bullying, drugs/substance abuse, internet safety and lockdown procedures.  The officers also attend law, career and civics classes to provide up to date information as well as to build relationships with the school community.

Senior Support

The Seniors Support Officer deals with issues, concerns and challenges that affect our seniors' community through education, investigation and co-operation. The Officer educates seniors groups on crime prevention and personal safety. Seminars include topics such as frauds, scams, power of attorney, identity theft, pedestrian safety and driving issues. Investigations are focused on issues of abuse and neglect of seniors. Co-operation through community partnerships include, Community Care Access Center, Catholic Family Services, the City of Hamilton and the Provincial Government.

Youth Officers

Youth Officers are “at risk” and “high risk” youth intervention specialists.  These Officers have established networks and partnerships with varying youth serving agencies aimed at intervening and supporting “at risk” and “high risk” youth and their families. Their responsibilities include children under the age of 12 years.
